Do I have this correct? You moved out of Mexico, now you are protesting in the U.S. about a dam being built in Mexico? You are wasting our time. Protest in Mexico, this is America.
Thanks for the geography lesson, Bob.
You may have missed the fact that the event was held at the Mexican consulate and the committee's letters were addressed to President Fox (the president of Mexico) and Governor Ramirez Acu~na (the governor of the state of Jalisco). Furthermore, we did field a delegation that in fact did participate in a demonstration and organizing activities in Mexico (see http://www.mapder.org and find someone who can translate into Spanish for you).
I will also point out the fact that the forces of global capital are instrumental in driving megaprojects that place profits ahead of people are global in scale, thus resistance to those projects must also be global in scale.

Valiente chamaco, tú nunca te rajas,
seguirán ladrando y no morderán.

Suerte.
What kind of heartless, ignorant person are you?? My family lives in San Gaspar and it is very saddening to see this happening. My grandfather is buried in the cemetery and I will do anything in protest of this dam so that his grave and my family members' homes and land are preserved. And yes this does has to do with this country because, as US citizens, we have a right to voice our opinions to the political representation, the Mexican Consulate. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the protest because I live in another state, but I will still lend as much support.
NO A LA PRESA!
NO A LA PRESA!
My mother and her family is from San Gaspar de los Reyez. My brother and I were born in Mexico D. F. after she married in 1968.By May 21,1970 my mother, brother, and I were back in San Gaspar fatherless. At 2 years old My mother left for work in the U.S. and left my brother and I. At 35years old I remember how beautiful and clean a river flowed at one end of the town and how it use to flood during heavy rain, leaving it clean enough to swim in, maybe even drink from it.The focus should be on water flow through the town, not flooding it completely. It makes me wonder what went wrong .Are environmental hazard issues missing, and who is to blame? We have homes and alot of family buried there it is as insult we even have to say NO to the proposed DAMB!
It's a shame that one of Jaliscos oldest town will be gone.
San Gaspar has it's roots to the Aztec empire. It was there
when the Aztecs had its capital in Teocaltiche. So it does have history. I was born there so lets save it. for all those lives it has seen through millenia
