The 35 year old movement for a nonviolent revolution in the mental health system has roots in the Bay Area. Be part of it! You can help plan the next popular summer seminar series for MindFreedom San Francisco Bay Area. Or if you can't attend, get on the list to hear about these: hms5 [at] pacbell.net

Subject: MindFreedom San Francisco Bay Area will hold a community meeting, April 17th, to get input for its next Free Summer Seminar Series.
To everyone on the e-mail list of MindFreedom (Support Coalition International) San Francisco Bay Area:
Community meeting to get public input for the next Free Summer Seminar Series of MindFreedom San Francisco Bay Area will happen
April 17th, Sunday, 2 p.m. at the New College of California, 766 Valencia Street, Room 23, SAN FRANCISCO.
Below is the text from our leaflet about the event:
San Francisco Bay Area Mindfreedom
Community Meeting
2pm-5pm April 17th at the New College 766 Valencia Street Room 23, wheelchair accessible
The organizers of the San Francisco Bay Area
Mindfreedom 2004 Summer Seminar Series would like to
invite you to a community meeting.
This is an opportunity to celebrate, review and share
feedback on the 2004 seminar series. Our small
organizing group will also share our ideas for the
next seminar series and welcome more ideas and
feedback from you.
We realize that many people who came to the seminar
series were also interested in specific things such
as:
alternative mental health programs
tips on continued survival from psychiatric survivors
meeting other survivors of foster care
titrating off of psychiatric drugs safely and with
support
bringing mad pride month and mad pride celebrations
to the Bay Area
creating an informed consent pledge for physicians
and more...
creating support groups and/or research groups based
on these experiences and interests
We recognize that we are all resources to each other
are therefore are devoting time for making connections
and sharing information. Hopefully this will inspire
us all. Please contact us if you have information
you'd like to post or share and we will provide wall
or table space.
One of the reflections we have had and received about
the '04 series was that of all our great presenters we
had only a few that were themselves psychiatric
survivors.
Here is an outline of our plans for the meeting:
2-3:15pm Call to meeting and purpose of the meeting
brief introductions from all present who wish to be
known
review of '04 Summer Seminar Series
feedback from you about '04 Summer Seminar Series
ideas for future seminar series from the organizers
ideas and suggestions from you for the upcoming and
future seminar series
3:15-4:00pm Making connections and sharing
information: this is the time to share information, to
meet around specific themes, share contact
information and make plans to meet again
4:15- 4:45pm More ideas, suggestions, and discussion
from you for future seminar series and Mindfreedom activities in the Bay Area.
