Some photos from the arrest scene at 14th and Valencia

by Mahtin (themahtin [at] hotmail.com)
the blond guy is the first person whose arrest I observed (I think he was the first arrestee)

I noticed that the police used a different pain compliance hold on each protester. Are they practicing for future protests, or for "real" "criminals?"

After all of the arrestees had been loaded into the Sheriff's van, three police videographers videoed the crowd for quite a while.

Note all the cameras everywhere. People in green hats are legal observers

He didn't have his glasses on at the time of his arrest, and he said that he needed them because he had very poor vision. The crowd demanded his glasses, but they weren't given to him when he was being loaded into the van.

Tell Democratic Supervisor, Tom Ammiano, who is staunchly pro-Israel, to remove his Democratic Party's police from our streets as they are nothing but torturers and parasites, taking $80,000 a year and up plus benefits from us taxpayers, multiplied by 2200 cops on the force, to terrorize and torture the workingclass. Pain compliance is a contrived term for torture and is illegal and despicable. The equipment these goons and thugs are wearing cost thousands of dollars, all of which we need for social services, which are being cut back in San Francisco. To arrest this small group of unarmed, skinny sit-downers, it should have taken no more than 2 unarmed cops, without helmets, etc., and no torture of any kind. We marched through District 9, which Supervisor Ammiano claims to represent. He ran for an illegal 3rd term so he could keep the Reds out of office, the whole purpose of the Democratic Party, the twin capitalist party of the Republican Party. The Democrats and Republicans are both parties of war and fascism and all are staunch supporters of the US military base run by the fascist, racist, anti-labor, superstitious Zionists, known as Israel. That is why no Democratic or Republican politician should be invited to speak at any peace rally.

Thank you so much for continuing to address that the war continues and that the masses are contributing to the war everyday by consuming.

there seem to be plenty of pictures showing the group sitting around but not too many with evidence of the cops utilizing pain compliance.

Its pretty easy to take pictures of things when they are static and its not that hard to take pictures after the police have someone issolated and there isnt anything blocking the picture from being taken but when the cops move in and have someone surrounded its pretty hard to take pictures of whats going on. If you can see police abuse through a thick police libe the best thing to do is just start taking pictures and assume that at least one picture may come out showing whats going on; with a digital camera you can do this as much as you want and then erase the pics that didnt come out later.

I was filming the whole thing. One of the protestors near the end, the one after the girl from my school was arrested, was picked up by his jaw after struggling to keep his arms locked. A legal observer said it was ok to lift him off the ground by his head becuase he was resisting arrest. i'll try and post the video when i get it set up.

Does anyone have information on the people arrested?
How many people arrested total?
What the charges are? any felony charges?
Have they all been release?
Is anything being done in their defense?
