Queers march in SF on 19 March 2005. So do nudes.
AP report on 19 March 2005:
anti-war/ anti-Bush DEMOS in SF and U$A:
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2005/03/19/state/n105633S30.DTL
"In San Francisco, thousands of demonstrators rallied in Dolores Park in the city's Mission district, holding up posters with photographs of slain U.S. soldiers and carrying signs with slogans such as "No to War for Capitalist Profits."
The protesters then marched to San Francisco City Hall for another rally...." [ -- AP ]
...................
[ Note by SUN: Tommi Avicolli Mecca led a queer contingent.
Marvin Gordon led a smaller contingent of elder nudists,
two of whom marched naked. ]

AP report on DEMOS IN EUROPE (earlier in the same Saturday):
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2005/03/19/international/i074543S15.DTL
[ London peace demonstrators dislike Prime Minister Blair (Labour);
yet can't see themselves voting Conservative in the coming election.
They fear voting for a third party, thereby strengthening Conservatives.
So Blair may be re-elected by Labourites who don't really like him,
as the least offensive of the two major evils. -- TBL ]

on March 19 anti-war protests --
main parade + breakaway:

Comments:
(A) U.S. protest marches were large BEFORE regular troops landed in Iraq, small ever since. The main difference is that moderates participated before the invasion; but most won't do so now, because they don't wish to look like they're criticizing the troops.
Even so, a majority of U.S. adults (as shown by polls) now realizes that Bush's war was a mistake (and/or that he did it in the wrong way). But now, there's a new problem for moderates: How can U.S. troops get out gracefully?
(B) In the Chron report, a lawyer remarks that many marchers are promoting other causes, aside from the Iraq war. That's true.
Actually, left and activist groups usually do this -- BUT these factions were less visible in the large pre-war marchers, when the left was out-numbered by moderates.
