Berkeley to celebrate the life of Rachel Corrie
A night of music, poetry and activism will commemorate the second anniversary of the death of human rights activist Rachel Corrie. Rachel was killed March 16th, 2003 when she stood between a Palestinian home and a Caterpillar bulldozer operated by the Israeli military.
After 2 years, there has still been no real investigation into the death of Rachel Corrie. The State Department has rejected as “inadequate” the investigation conducted by the Israeli military when it investigated itself, yet has not pressed for a full investigation. Her family still waits for answers.
Worse, Palestinian homes are still being demolished and land is still being confiscated. Despite words of peace there is no justice for those who suffer under oppression.
It is at this time that the International Solidarity Movement and allies gather for a celebration of the work of Rachel Corrie, and call for all to continue in this struggle for justice.
Joining in this event will be musicians like Iron Sheik, Matthew Owens, and Tariq Ghazalah.
Speakers include Peter Camejo, Julia Butterfly Hill,
Pratap Chatterjee, Barbara Lubin, Starhawk, Dennis Bernstein and Pierre Labossiere.
This event will take place at the Florence Schwimley Little Theater (Berkeley High School campus), 1930 Allston Berkeley
Requested Donation $20 (no one turned away for lack of funds)
