11 March 2005

[Budrus, Ramallah] In response to an unprovoked military invasion in
the West Bank village of Budrus, villagers, who have been struggling
against the Wall for more than one year, tore down pieces of the
Separation Fence which is built on their land.

During a wedding celebration early Friday afternoon in Budrus, Israeli
military and border police jeeps invaded the village and fired sound
bombs, tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition inside the
village. Israeli military and border police jeeps left the village
after arresting 25 year old Hasan Mohammed Awad and wounding three
Palestinians with rubber bullets.

After the military left the village through the gate in the fence,
villagers followed and forced the gate open. They then damaged several
dozen meters of the structure while shouting "No to the fence! Yes to

Budrus has held over 50 demonstrations against the Wall in the past
year and a half. If the Wall is completed in the Western Ramallah
area, 25,000 Palestinians in eight villages will be completely
surrounded with no access to hospitals, places of employment and
higher education.

International and Israeli activists are sleeping in the village in
solidarity with the people of Budrus and as witnesses in the event of
military retaliation for today's nonviolent action of tearing down the

Press Release / Solidarity Design / March 9th, 2005

Solidarity Design is proud to announce the launch of a new website
listing dates that are important to the Palestinian cause. The intent
is to provide reminders and resources to commemorate these events and
make sure that they are never forgotten or brushed aside.

As we know too well, Israel is committing crimes against the
Palestinian people on a continuous basis. It is crucial to expose
past and present crimes and make sure the world does not forget
atrocities like the Deir Yassin massacre, the horrors inflicted on the
Jenin refugee camp, the murder of Rachel Corrie, and numerous other
tragedies. provides reminders of important dates, and
resources that can be used in commemorating these dates. Visitors can
subscribe to "Date Alert," which is a low-volume mailing list (two
e-mails per month) alerting them to upcoming dates, and providing
resources pertaining to these, such as related links, books, films,
and action alerts.

The website is dedicated to the memory of all Palestinians killed in
the conflict with Israel, as well as the 700,000 Palestinians who were
driven from their homeland, and their descendants who languish to this
very day in the deplorable conditions of refugee camps.

Solidarity Design also takes this opportunity to reaffirm and support
the Palestinian right of return - a human right enshrined in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We remind supporters of the
Palestinian cause to support the efforts of Al-Awda, the Palestine
Right to Return Coalition, and draw attention to its upcoming
convention in Los Angeles.

Towards a better tomorrow for the Palestinian people and all oppressed
