In Odd We Trust ?

by seniornude
What are queers and other societal "outsiders" good for?
"IN ODD WE TRUST"

Most "normal" folks sleepwalk thru life, doing whatever their local
culture or subculture expects of them;
thus keeping their society stable.

In the U$A, cultural change often come from OUTSIDERS --
queers, blacks, Jews, bohemians, radicals, deviants,
immigrants, writers, religious converts, utopians, neurotics, weirdos, idealists, Quakers, poets, manic-depressives,
and misfits....

The odd often annoy (and even enrage) their societies,
yet they may help their societies evolve.
Sokrates boldly explained this role in a speech to his fellow citizens, which offended them enough to earn him a death sentence: Society is like a huge horse, which needs gadflies to keep it awake.
