Hearing for Activists arrested during Reclaim the Commons 2004
Biotech police brutality hearing in San Francisco at city hall at 4pm room 408. Come support your local resistance.
Sunshine Taskforce Hearing for Activists arrested during
Reclaim the Commons 2004
Tuesday FEB 22nd San Francisco CITY HALL 4pm Room 408
Fourty activists arrested during the Reclaim the Commons (Biotech Summit) “Mutant Street Party,” employed jail solidarity tactics to protest the bogus police round-up and protect those “at risk” who were ensnared in the police barricade at 5th and Market on June 8th, 2004.
On June 9th the activists were violently extracted from their cells by
Sheriff's personnel. Injuries incurred from the extraction range from bruises to broken bones. On June 10th Judge Mary Morgan completely dismissed their charges.
On the group's behalf, Attorney Ben Rosenfeld has brought a Sunshine Complaint against James Harrington, Legal Counsel to the Sheriff, based on his refusal to turn over video and other documents pertaining to the forcible extraction of the activists from their cells.
In effort to investigate for a potential suit, the Sheriff’s legal council
has only demonstrated their ongoing disrespect for transparency and public records, and their attempt to maintain an iron grip on such information.
The group of activists involved in the hearing and potential suit invite
folks to report for independent media, or even to testify during public comment.
