SOS- Save Our Substitutes
We hire substitute soldiers to die for us.
Dear queer peers,
During our Civil War, if a man were drafted,
he or his relatives could legally hire
a "substitute"
to serve in his place, perhaps to die.
Today's "all-volunteer" military form a class of substitutes
for university students and graduates,
who might otherwise be drafted.
Will students let Bush sacrifice even more substitutes
to the narcissistic pride which he feels for his own blunders?
When will university women and men recognize these young persons
as their less fortunate cousins,
and mobilize to
"Save Our Substitutes" ?
Queerly yours,

First I tried to posit it on the AntiWar page,
but something went wrong -- I couldn't find it on that page,
not even in the "other" category.
So then I revised it, and posted it to the Queer page.
In future, I shall probably post ONLY to the queer page;
where I'm part of the community;
and where I can learn, by trial and error,
what floats or sinks.
The editors of the queer page have shown commendable tolerance for my independent views, even tho I'm usually NOT in lockstep with the crowd.

PS--
Please KEEP the queer version of the above.
If editors want to hide the anti-war version,
that's OK. I'm outta there.
