2/22 Hearing about Oakland Pesticides

by Isis for EBPA
This Tuesday, February 22, is a CRUCIAL day in the fight against the City's plan to reverse the almost decade long pesticide ban in Oakland.

This Tuesday, February 22, is a CRUCIAL day in the fight against the City's plan to reverse the almost decade long pesticide ban in Oakland. There will be two meetings by City officials considering the plan to use toxic herbicides in the Oakland hills as a measure to prevent wildfires. Since many of the chemically injured people most impacted by pesticides are too ill to come to such public events, we need LOTS of people to come to the meetings and present as many alternatives to this plan as possible. I'd like to encourage seasoned Permaculturists especially to come speak on the many plants that need fire to nurture their continued existence, particularly any endangered native species you are familiar with.

Please bring your friends, family and colleagues, bring signs, information and thoughts to share at the hearing, and join us in this effort to keep Oakland from turning back the clock on progress.

Letters to editors as well as to the City Council and Public Works and Safety people (CC'd to East Bay Pesticide Alert at beneficialbug [at] netzero.net) would also be helpful. Thank You. Hope to see you Tuesday.

Love,

Isis
