Urge the Anti-Choice Movement to Help Us Prevent Abortions

by NARAL Pro-Choice America
kinda weird, huh? (reposted by Susie-Q)
Subj: Urge the Anti-Choice Movement to Help Us Prevent Abortions
Date: 05-02-14
From: can [at] ProChoiceAmerica.org (NARAL Pro-Choice America)

For years, groups on both sides of the debate over a woman's right to
choose have waged one of the country's most divisive political wars.
We will never resolve our differences on this issue. But we should be
able to agree on an equally fundamental point: America would be a
better country if we helped more women avoid the difficult choices
posed by an unintended pregnancy. What better way to end the debate
over abortion than by eliminating the reasons women seek abortion?

Sign our petition to organizations of the anti-choice movement, asking
them to join a new campaign to reduce the need for abortion. Senator
Harry Reid - who opposes a woman's right to choose - has offered a
common-sense bill called the Prevention First Act that would help
reduce unintended pregnancies through better access to birth control.

Help us urge our opponents to work with us to pass this bill, and make
it the first step in a dialogue about preventing unintended
pregnancies. Click here to take action today:

Petition:

Pro-choice Americans believe passionately that women have the right to
decide for themselves when to bring children into the world - without
government interference. You disagree - passionately and sincerely.

We will never resolve our differences on this basic question. But we
should agree on an equally fundamental point: America would be a
better country if we helped more women avoid the difficult choices
posed by an unintended pregnancy. What better way to end the debate
over abortion rights than by eliminating the reasons women seek abortion?

The time has come to join together in a new campaign to reduce the
need for abortion. Senator Harry Reid - who opposes a woman's right to
choose - has offered a common-sense bill called the Prevention First
Act that would help reduce unintended pregnancies through better
access to birth control. I believe this represents a serious first
step in addressing the problem, and I hope you'll join with NARAL
Pro-Choice America and the pro-choice community to pass this bill, and
make it the first step in a dialogue about preventing unintended
pregnancies and thereby reducing the need for abortion.
