Planning Commission Says Yes to Unique Affordable Housing Project
The San Francisco Planning Commission voted 5-0 Thursday night to approve a 56 unit affordable housing project designed to provide apartments for current SRO tenants. The project at 785 Brannan, to be owned by the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, will house tenants whose incomes are too low to qualify under the city’s inclusionary housing law. The Commission hearing revealed much about class and racial attitudes in today’s San Francisco.
Last night’s vote culminated an approval process that began at the Planning Commission in 2002 and that went on to a hearing before the full Board of Supervisors in 2003....

How strange to see former tenant advocate/attorney Sue Hestor's name associated with landlords. In 1978, Hestor
helped draft The City's first rent control ordinance which, at the
time, was more tenant-friendly than the current law. That's a
liberal for you - no class.
