Thursday-Saturdays through February 5th, 8 pm Teatro Didactico Popular and San Francisco's Mission Cultural Center Presents "What A Crime! Garcia Lorca / !Que Crimen! Garcia Lorca" Federico Garcia Lorca was considered one of the giants of Spanish literature. But in 1936 he became an early casualty of the Spanish civil war when he was assassinated by the Falangist of Francisco Franco's regime. An unjustifiable crime against a brillant poet, playwright, and gay gentleman. The play is based on a study which looks at the duplicity between the Church and the Falangists and the role they played in Lorca's murder.
Blending Lorca's stunning poetry, and juxtaposing it against the harshness of right-wing military reality, Argentinian born playwright Hector Schujman and Bay Area director Jose Luis Leiva create a tapestry of ideas through the use of magical realism. Show Times are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00pm in the Theatre. $20 for Adults and $10 for Students and Seniors. Groups of five or more receive a 15% discount.)
Show dates are: February 3rd, 4th, 5th
