Please join us for three California benefit screenings of the award-winning PBS documentary In the Light of Reverence. Coupled with the film will be a panel discussion with Native American leaders Caleen Sisk-Franco (Winnemem Wintu) and Vernon Masayesva (Hopi) in an effort to stop the enlargement of Shasta Dam near Redding. The proposed dam raising would flood some of the Winnemem Wintu’s remaining sacred sites and destroy a stretch of what remains of the free-flowing McCloud River.

These events will also premiere a new seven-minute short, Winnemem Wintu War Dance at Shasta Dam. Proceeds from the three benefits will support the Winnemem Wintu.

Oakland: Thurs. March 3 at 7 pm — Grand Lake Theater, 3200 Grand Ave. Admission $15 — with Julia Butterfly Hill.

Please call (415) 459-9211 ext. 40 or visit http://www.sacredland.org for further information.
