GARC will be held in New York City, March 31 - April 3, 2005. All animal rights activists are invited to attend. We particularly welcome women, persons of color, and persons born outside the United States. Housing and food costs will be kept low.

GARC is the process of building the grassroots. Please begin your participation now by helping us build a terrific conference. We welcome not just your labor, but your creativity and ideas. We especially need help in outreach, publicity, contacting speakers, and fundraising.

GARC is unique in having been designed by grassroots animal rights activists for grassroots animal rights activists. Our agenda is being designed based on survey answers from hundreds of animal rights activists.

GARC is also unique in its focus on breaking down the barrier between audience and organizer, its strong focus on the link between animal abuse and other forms of oppression both inside and outside our movement, its orientation towards activist skill and strategy sharing over issue information, and its particular focus and recognition on the grassroots segment of the movement.
