California Compassionate Choices Act - Location Change for February 4 Legislative Hearing

Attend a public hearing and show your support for aid in dying!

As you may know, the California State Assembly is anticipating the
introduction of a landmark aid-in-dying bill. The California
Compassionate Choices Act of 2005 would give California an
aid-in-dying law similar to the one used in Oregon.

Public hearings have been scheduled in January and February to
discuss different aspects of this bill. Many thanks to our members
and supporter who attended last week's hearing on in Los Angeles.
Focusing on the impact of aid in dying on individuals with
disabilities, we showed great support for the bill sponsors
and effectively countered opposition arguments.

The second hearing, regarding issues of mental competency, will be
held on February 4, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in
Sacramento. Please note: the location of this hearing has been
changed! Originally scheduled to take place in San Francisco, it will
be held in Sacramento in Room 4202 of the State Capitol, located on L
Street at 11th Street.

Come to the hearing and show your support! It is imperative that we
support this legislation at this critical hour. These
hearings should inform our legislators about the true benefits and
safety of this legislation. Your presence will show California
residents, lawmakers, and media that California is ready for the
Compassionate Choices Act.

Supporters of the bill will be wearing yellow, so if you have
something yellow please wear it to show your support. We will have a
table outside of the hearing room where you will find stickers that
you can wear to show your support.
