The Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) will soon be coming to Congress for approval, maybe as early as this February. Jesse Swanhuyser, Director of the California Coalition for Fair Trade and Human Rights, will speak about many of the questions surrounding CAFTA and free trade and tell how community members can get involved in the effort to stop it. He will describe the history of free trade, the failures of NAFTA, the threat free trade poses to true democracy (free from what?), and how the struggle against it fits into the current political landscape.
Free. The program will be broadcast live on Mid-Peninsula Media Cable Channel 27 and rebroadcast on Channels 27 and 30 throughout February. It is part of the ongoing “Other Voices” television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
