LGBT caravan to Napa
On Saturday, February 5th, at 9:30am, car loads of LGBT activists
from San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Cruz and Reno will
roll into Napa for a fun-filled day of precinct-walking and phone
banking on behalf of Chris Edwards. Chris is a local business owner,
a longtime Democratic activist and civic leader, the co-chairperson
of the Napa Valley Gay Lesbian Political Caucus

In late October, 2004, scores of Bay Area lesbians, gay men and their
allies traveled to Reno, Nevada for a fun-filled weekend of precinct-
walking and phone banking for the John Kerry presidential campaign.
This grassroots effort has been credited as helping Kerry turn out
nearly 20,000 more Democratic votes in northern Nevada than in 2000.
Now, on Saturday, February 5th, we're traveling yet again on an
exciting and meaningful trek to Napa, California to help elect Chris
Edwards - an openly-gay Democrat hoping to become Napa County's first
openly-gay elected official!

dozens of local non-profit organizations and associations. To learn
more about Chris and the March 8th election, check out his campaign
website at http://www.edwards4napa.com or to donate, go to

As grassroots campaigning should always be fun, the Chris Edwards
campaign has graciously lined up plenty of local sponsors to provide
free meals for our volunteers - including a free wine-tasting social
hour. In addition - Mr. Russell Kassman, one of the founders of the
Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club and the owner of The Depot
Restaurant and the Rainbow Room - is sponsoring a free volunteer
dinner at Napa's historic and prestigious restaurant with a special
performance by cabaret performer Houston Allred.
Napa is a mere hour drive from San Francisco and Sacramento and an
hour and a half drive from San Jose and Santa Cruz. Car pools are
being formed if you want to share travel. If you are interested in
joining us, contact Clark Williams (ClarkWilliams [at] hotmail.com) or the
Edwards campaign manager, Ms. Josie Jenkins (josie [at] edwards4napa.com).
