Any more information on what haappened? People arrested? Did the trees get cut? I wish I was there to help. :(

I'm sure that a more informative post will follow soon. It seems that climer Eric cut down the supplies in an OLd Growth rattlesnake forest Tree-sit, where two environmental school-teachers were sitting. One of the sitters hung from a traverse line, to save the trees, and the rope, and the tree-sitter. I don't know what happened to the other sitter, but Eric and P.L. left with the fire still burning, so they are assumed to be coming back.

Everyday Palco redwood products are sold in West Sacramento at a lumber store on West Capitol (west of Harbor) the intersection West Capitol and Harbor Blvd. This is a visible location 4 a protest..

Just down the road on Harbor is the Port of Sacramento. Is this the final terrestrial destination of the logging trucks that leave Humboldt with their stolen redwood trees?

First the helpful information. Thank-you Mr. Nolan aka Jumbo or Dumbo for the information you provided that some of the tree-sitters in the Rainbow area had left their trees due to the weather conditions. Your check is in the mail.

Second, the mis-information. Schatz Watch does not know what it is talking about. The gate is NOT on public land, and you will be ARRESTED for trespass. I would suggest SW educate their-self about the property line in that area before you send innocent people to the area to get arrested. You need to contact the Humboldt Redwood parks about this. If you should get arrested for trespass, remember to bring your $250 to court. The county needs your dope money.

Shunka Wakan, a well-known local Earth Firster, said that he was first contacted a few months ago by an Ali G representative. This person told Wakan that a late-night British television show geared toward youth wished to come to Humboldt County to film a segment on forest issues. Wakan offered to help, and Cohen came to town a few months ago.

In the final program, which first aired last Sunday night, Cohen is first seen walking up to a Freshwater tree-sit, his face twisted in disgust at the mud, which sullies his brand-new tennis shoes. He discusses politics with Wakan and offers not-so-constructive criticism of Earth First's "crap" songs.

At one point, Cohen tells his viewers to show support for the "tree people" by "doing something that makes a difference -- burn a car, whatever. Mash people up. Let them know that you're doing it for a cause, so we can get some publicity." This led to a long debate, in which the earnest Wakan tried to explain the merits of non-violence to his befuddled interviewer.

Wakan said last week that the experience caused him some stress at the time, as he felt that Cohen was trying to get him, along with fellow forest activists "Grasshopper" and "Whisper," to advocate violence in front of the camera.

"By the time it was over, I had serious doubts about who this person was," he said. "The FBI and COINTELPRO have been known to set up Earth First! in the past."

When he realized that the show was just a "modern Candid Camera," Wakan said, he didn't mind the experience as much. He said that it still served as an opportunity for the group to get its message out.

"If you can't take a joke, you're in serious trouble," Wakan said. "You've got to have a sense of humor."

Fox Camp gate is NOT PL property. Every time someone is arrested for trespassing there, the charges are dropped. You would think the sheriffs would figure it out, but they are too busy being Carl Anderson's lap dogs.

"Yes Carl, sure Carl, I'll arrest that hippy right away Carl."

PL land manager bettis is the only person who claims that the gate belongs to PL, besides big fat Carl, who is a neanderthal-redneck and probably can't use computers
