Monthly KFC Protest in San Jose with help from the chickens themselves!

by Mike Borg (corradoborg [at] yahoo.com)
Chickens of all sizes help spread the word about KFC's cruelty.

Our group, based in San Jose, does at least one monthly KFC protest at one of several various KFC locations. These pictures come from our latest event, which took place on Saturday, January 8th at 1:00 PM on the corner of Bascom Ave and Naglee in San Jose.

We've been using the chicken suit for months now to generate a head-turning presence. Passers-by and motorists can't help but notice a 6-foot-tall bright yellow chicken with bandages and a crutch, but this time the Chicken Man was upstaged by Peep.

Peep is a 2-year-old rooster who was saved from a science experiment and became a permanant member of the household of his saviors. Everyone loved to watch him peck at grain layed out for him on the KFC lawn. Many motorists did doubletakes when they drove by and saw a chicken at KFC that was not only still alive and healthy, but fighting for his brethren! He really puts a face on those who are suffering at the hands of KFC.

We intend to have monthly protests at KFC's from San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino and more, to be held on the first Saturday of each month. Please join us - help spread the word, and meet Peep - he has promised to attend future protests when he is available to do so.

Thanks for doing this.

I think society is hypocritical because the typical person feels very deeply about kittens 'put to sleep' at the shelters, or malevolent teens in isolated incidents found throwing a rabbit in a lake or something like that, but there is no sentiment at all related to equivalent birds and mammals being knocked off in the same fashion for meat.

Also, I think that rationally, the animal rights movement should focus its energy where the biggest problem is, and KFC/McDonald's etc. is several times bigger in magnitude than bunnies in animal research.

Pragmatism can make sense too. I like the idea of animal rights movement being able to calculate that if a large number of people were convinced that for their health, it would make sense to go back to how it was in the 1930s when most families would eat meat once a week. Even though this wouldn't be purist, 6/7th of the problem would be solved by having lots of people reform their behavior rather than making a small fraction of people become full vegans, and it would be more likely to work.

What are you trying to say here, that soy beans are not alive?
by aaron
soy beans aren't beings, nessie.
by what are you saying
you argue with facetiousness. throwing random stones is not a refutation. being mean for mean's sake is not a

learn to think critically instead

soy beans seem to lack, what is it now... a brain and a central nervous system

AR is about reduction of suffering and it's not a religion as much as you'd like to make it
