Few issues in public policy elicit as much heated debate as capital punishment. Historically, supporters and opponents of the death penalty have divided along conservative and liberal lines. In recent years, however, advances in forensic science have lead to the exoneration of numerous death-row inmates, prompting many people to re-think their positions. How can the criminal justice system be reformed to reduce the number of wrongful convictions and yet protect the innocent against violent crime? Please join us as Bill Kurtis, true-crime TV anchor (Cold Case Files and American Justice) and author of the new book, The Death Penalty on Trial, and U.C. Berkeley law professor Franklin Zimring, author of the new book, The Contradictions of American Capital Punishment, address these life-or-death questions.
