What is a DARK MONDAY? MAPA's call to observe DARK MONDAYS and not purchase gasoline one day a week is an economic boycott, which targets the energy industry throughout California and in any state where our message is well received.

DARK MONDAYS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2004 AND ALL OF 2005
A growing number of organizations have joined the call by the Mexican American Political Association to observe DARK MONDAYS beginning Monday, December 13, 2004 and all of 2005 until the state of California becomes a hospitable state to immigrants and permits driver's licenses to persons irrespective of their immigration status.
What is a DARK MONDAY?
What is a DARK MONDAY? MAPA's call to observe DARK MONDAYS and not purchase gasoline one day a week is an economic boycott, which targets the energy industry throughout California and in any state where our message is well received.
The energy industry is the most watched industry in terms of the ups and downs of the market - prices, supply, consumption, etc. - and therefore, relatively simple to ascertain the effectiveness of a boycott.
No purchase of gasoline is a simple act of conscience by the consumers - almost a symbolic act of support and unity. This is a call to observe DARK MONDAYS to all Latinos, immigrants, and the general community to demonstrate their support for immigrants and the right to obtain a driver's license with no regard for immigration status.
Critics would say that people will only make their purchases on Sunday or Tuesday and therefore there is no effect. In fact, this is the simplicity of our call. It is very simple for the populace to be supportive. However, this is only the first step to build organization and consiousness amongst our own communities, and the general population, about the contributions made by immigrants, to then pursue other economic actions and targets. This is one step of many more to come.

Ya deje de ser conformista y reconoce que nuestra gente, que la mayoria son indigenas, no son inmigrantes!! Como van a ser inmigrantes en su propia tierra?? Eso digaselo a los que realmente vienen de lugares extrañas como Europa o la Asia! Tu le dirias a alguien que viene de Nueva York un inmigrante? O de Hawaii? NO!! Tu compañero que en paz descanse, Bert Corona estaba muy consiente de eso, tanto asi que cada rato se encontraba en contra de Cesar Chavez, que su unica razon por haber logrado su "causa" fue atraves de varios redadas y deportaciones de nuestra raza! Que tipo de mexicano es ese? Reconocen tambien que no importa que tanto berinche hacen sobres nuestros derechos humanos ante el partido democrata, que nunca vas a alcanzar esas metas!! Porque? Porque todo esto se formo a base del genocidio de los indigenas, acuerdate que todo esto es tierra robada. Asi que porque seguirles lambiendole los pies al institucion yanqui? Es tiempo para el soberania total de los originales de aqui.

Aqui los unicos immigrantes son los anglosajones de los gringos ellos pertenecen a Europa! Llegaron a America illegalmente solamente a ultrajarnos con nuestras riquezas, como oro plata, y por si fuera poco con gran parte de nuestras tierras. Ahora ellos son los Americanos, lo que pasa esque el pais de estados unidos no tiene nombre se autodominan con el nombre del continente. Lo que no soporto es que se inchan el osicote de echarnos hasta por los codos con que somos wetbacks, spicks, imigrantes cuando que nosotros pertenecemos y somos los unicos Americanos. La gente mayor siempre se refieren a los gringos como los americanos, pero yo siempre los corrijo, les digo: Aqui los americanos somos nosotros ellos son europeos, y me miran como si estuviera loca y me dicen yo no soy americana(o)! Nuestros antepasados siempre han estado en America inclusive mexico es uno de los tres paises en Norte America; que muchos chicanos lo ignoran y se rien de mi cuando les digo que Mexico esta situado en Norte America. La ingnorancia abunda por todos lados!
