MEASURE Z AND BEYOND
PLANNING FOR MARIJUANA REFORM IN CALIFORNIA

What's Next in California with regards to marijuana policy? Join us for a
Statewide Strategy Meeting to discuss legalizing, taxing and regulating
cannabis in California, and what's next for medical marijuana.

Where: Oakland, California (in the Oaksterdam area)

The recent passage of Oakland's Measure Z, which makes private, adult
marijuana offenses law enforcement's lowest priority (including possession,
cultivation, and sales), and puts the city on record that it wants to tax
and regulate (non-medical) sales to adults through licensed businesses as
soon as allowable under state law, opens a significant opportunity to move
the state towards legalizing cannabis in a manner similar to alcohol.

The Oakland Civil Liberties Alliance (OCLA), California NORML, and the Drug
Policy Alliance are co-sponsoring a meeting to discuss the possibilities for
changing marijuana policy in California. We would like to share with others
the process that moved Oakland to a 65% victory, and to identify potential
locales that would be amenable to such a measure. It is vital that we
"spread" Measure Z to other areas in order to move towards change at the
state level and equality for all cannabis consumers.

In addition, we will also have a session on the future of medical marijuana,
the Supreme Court cases, and other issues relevant to Californians.

In the evening, we are planning a reception to give us all a chance to
socialize with our friends and compatriots.

MORE DETAILS TO COME. We will also try to arrange for reasonably-priced
accommodations with local hotels if enough people are interested.

Please email me to let me know if you are interested in coming to this
meeting and if you'd need a hotel room.

Stay tuned. Happy Holidays!
