All-Lesbian Reality Dating Series

Shesoutallnight.com, a web site featuring national listings of lesbian events and personals, presents a look into New York’s other single-sex dating scene. Three women, three dates and three choices are at the heart of Her Prerogative, a series of direct-to-DVD releases, and the premier episode is available just in time for the holidays.

With the release of Her Prerogative, lesbian and bi-sexual women can join the rest of America in self-conscious laughter as they watch themselves stumble through blind date hell. The premise is simple: from a database of would-be contestants, the producers select one woman, and she selects two more. The women go on a series of three dates, two one-on-one, then all three on the town. At the end of the third date, each woman chooses whom, if any one, she would see again, and explains her choice.

Because Her Prerogative is not constrained by a thirty-minute time slot or network censors, test audiences saw and heard much more of the interaction between contestants, which proved to be nirvana for armchair psychologists and voyeurs alike.

Her Prerogative may be just a new kid on the crowded reality TV block, but it’s the only kid on the direct-to-DVD, all-lesbian dating show block, and there’s plenty of room to grow. Plans are already in the works to shoot episodes in cities across the U.S.
