Lowering the bar yet again: Taser hits 78

by junya (AP repost)
Like some macabre parody of Barry Bonds chasing the home run record, police everywhere seem to be frantically seeking their 15 minutes of fame by sinking below yesterday's moral nadir.

Or maybe it's all just part of Taser International's "field testing"?
Airport police use Taser on 78-year-old

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles International Airport officials are defending a police officer who used a Taser gun on a 78-year-old man.

Authorities say the Lancaster man went to the airport police station last Saturday to retrieve an impounded car.

Authorities say he began arguing with officers, made threats and ignored commands to stop moving toward them.

Finally, a police sergeant warned the man and then shot him with the electric stun gun. The elderly man was taken to a hospital and then a relative took him home.

He could face charges of disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.
