What are KPFA Election Results?
What are the results of the election to the Local Station Board of KPFA, 94.1 FM?
What are the results of the election to the Local Station Board of KPFA, 94.1 FM?
The election ended December 4, 2004, and as I understand it, the counting was to be done Monday, December 6, 2004. Yet, the KPFA website has no announcement of the results and in what round they were elected, as we are voting via Instant Runoff Voting. The old LSB is listed at:
http://www.kpfa.org/lsb/index.php?page=members
Anyone who has this information, please post it here and please have KPFA post it on their website. The sooner we hear the results, the better for all concerned. This election has had more than enough problems.
In the future, the LSB elections had better be:
(1) via ballots mailed by FIRST CLASS MAIL;
(2) held in January, with the mailing started on December 26.
(3) funded from KPFA's budget which if inadequate can be supplemented with a mini-thon to pay for this mandatory FIRST CLASS BALLOT MAILING.

From those statistics on the KPFA website, only about 12% of the listener ballots ended up getting returned and accepted as valid and less than 50% of KPFA staff voted in the LSB election.
That's pathetic, even given the problems that occurred in getting the ballots mailed properly. I thought these were the kind of folks that actually cared about participatory democracy!

How do you get a listener ballot. By donating?
There are so many good stations around here that I always listen to 104.9 first (Free Radio santa cruz, which is great) or 90.7 KALX. I like democracy now at 6am/8am, but 960AM Air America is better than some of the KPFA hours that start to drag.
