Raed Jarrar: Cutting Iraq Apart

Federal Iraq is at the core of the US project in the Middle East, the dream of the bush-administration. Cutting Iraq apart, turning the country into small administrative cantons where people can (happily) get lost in the details of their minor daily services problems and forget everything about their national and regional politics.

"Politics?! What did politics do for us? Let's find our bread first... Let's have electricity and clean water..."
"Arabs, Muslims? Who are they? What did they do for us... We should work for ourselves, our neighborhoods are our limits...."
this is the best dream for the neo-colonialists, the british and US administrations. These quotes that you can hear on the TV and read on the internet are the politically correct things to say in occupied Iraq.

The north of Iraq is already an un-announced country for the Kurds. The US administration is giving Kurdish dirty leaders their small haven, in exchange for them supporting the occupation, without saying anything about a "Kurdish State" to keep the Turks happy.
What about the south? The south will be given to, let's see... the Shia? and then split to smaller fragments to prevent them from becoming an Iranian extension?
What about the middle and west, for whom? Saddamists and evil people aka Sunnis? With a headquarters for Zarqawi-The-Phoenix that little-bushy can bomb every morning?
What about Baghdad and Basrah, are they going to be independent states too? Maybe As-Sadr city alone will be a state?
crap.

Why don't we have every house as a state, with a flag, a nice US-made electricity generator, a water well with a british water pump, some trees for juices and food, some chickens for happy meals, some turkeys for thanx givings, and a cute little pistol for "self-defense"?

If anyone outside the US forgot about the "Balkanization" that the US administration did in Yugoslavia, please read more about it. If anyone inside the US survived the collective amnesia and still remember the Balkanization, please try to spread the word.

Cutting the region into smaller countries with assigned governments started after the Sykes-Picot Agreement in 1916, and here it is going on.

This is another sad day, another black day. These centuries will go down in history as the darkest Middle-Eastern ages.
