Loveland Wal-Mart workers want union

Workers at a Wal-Mart store in Loveland have taken the first step toward union representation, according to the Wheat Ridge-based United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 7.

If the workers succeed, the Loveland Wal-Mart would be the first store in the chain with union workers, the union said. The store is located on Highway 34.

Seventeen employees of the Wal-Mart Tire & Lube Express operation in Loveland signed union cards calling for an election to be represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. The auto service workers claim they are eligible for union representation because their department is independent from the rest of the Wal-Mart operation.
