Update on People vs. Walker (Cardenas Case)
t turns out that the hearing this morning in the shooting death of Rudy Cardenas was not to dismiss the case, but was a "discovery" motion by Walker's attorney.
Dear Friends;
It turns out that the hearing this morning in the shooting death of Rudy Cardenas was not to dismiss the case, but was a "discovery" motion by Walker's attorney. At issue are two internal District Attorney memos that have been given to Walker's attorney with portions of the memos redacted or blotted out because the DA is asserting that either portions of the memo are non relevant or they are "attorney work product." The Judge agreed review these two memos in his chambers and then he would make a ruling. What is at issues are off the record communications that both Lane Liroff and William Larsen had with the Grand Jury. Walker's attorney wants to know the nature of these commications for a possible motion to dismiss.
In summary, the two attorneys argued the case and the result was that the Judge will review the memos in question and will rule on the motion on Tuesday afternoon 11-23 in Dept 33 at 1:30pm.
