Chechen resistance inflicts daily losses on Russians
hechen commander Amir Abdullah has reported a successful attack by a mobile group of his subdivision against a Russian convoy in the Zavodskoi district of the capital Jokhar on Saturday. In a telephone report to Kavkaz Center the commander said that Mujahiddeen opened fire on a Ural truck and microbus “UAZ”. Local residents said that there were many victims among the Russian aggressors.
Also on Saturday morning Chechen Mujahiddeen fired using machine guns and grenade launchers at a convoy of invaders at a location not far from the village of Agishty in the southern district of Vedeno.
One truck was burnt and a BTR (light armored car used for reconnaissance), which was moving along the bank of river Bass, was also hit. At least five Russian occupation soldiers were either killed or injured in the attack.
Nine Russian soldiers and one Chechen fighters were killed over 24 hours in various skirmishes in Chechnya, Chechen command said.
Four Russian soldiers died in landmine explosions in Chechnya’s south-eastern regions of Shali and Vedeno, and two more were killed in attacks on checkpoint stations in Jokhar, the command said.
Russians also killed one freedom fighters in a shootout with a separatist group cornered in the eastern region of Nozhai-Yurt.
Two Russian soldiers were killed and six were wounded when Mujahiddeen attacked Russian outposts and checkpoints 12 times since Saturday.
One more Russian serviceman was killed and two were wounded Saturday when their military car detonated a land mine in the town of Oysahar. In the capital Jokhar, a pro-Russian “Chechen police” officer was killed and another was wounded when their patrol was attacked by Mujahiddeen.
Two other collaborates were wounded when Mujahiddeen attacked the local administration building in the village of Rubezhnoe in the Naur district. Six occupation soldiers were killed in the Vashatar Gorge in the south of Chechnya.
The Mujahiddeen are outnumbered and outgunned by Russian forces but stage almost daily hit-and-run attacks on Russian positions and regularly target Russian troops and Moscow-backed Chechen collaborates with mines.
