Deleting my comment is censorship and it's Stalinist. I made a valid point. These folks want to shut down this power plant so much, but they offer NO plan with how to make up for the lost power. Are they willing to give up power in their neighborhood or do they expect someone else to do without? It's a legitimate question. I would like to see a legitimate answer. (and please don't blather about "wind and solar" or other nonsense. How are you going to make up the difference NOW?)

The PG&E power plant had been out for some months last summer. And guess what? NOTHING HAPPENED! It has been said time and time again how it is unnecessary to keep the plant running. Do your research and if you have any questions, feel free to ask?

Black Mesa coal is exported outside the four corners region. Is PG&E in Hunter's Point/Bayview one of the destination points? What is the energy source of the electricity produced at this station and where is it coming from?

Black Mesa coal is extracted by Peabody Coal corporation against the will of the Dineh (Navajo) people. Adverse health effects (cancer, birth defects) from water pollution (and theft) by Peabody in their coal slurry transports plague the Dineh people. Air pollution from the mining dust releases carcinogenic particulates that become lodged in people's lungs..

Much of this coal is used to light up the casinos of Las Vegas Nevada, some is exported. The similar problem the Dineh share with Hunter's Point residents is that their health is sacrificed so that electricity is available for consumer merchants, most of which is wasteful and not needed..

Saving energy needs to be a priority before alternative sources are sought out. The current health risks to people from excess electricity consumption outweighs the corporate energy barons' desires for consumption..
