IDF officer reprimanded after anti-Palestinian statement by soldier

by Haaretz
An Israel Defense Forces platoon commander was reprimanded on Wednesday after he threw a yarmulke on the ground, when a religious soldier said Palestinian towns should be wiped off the face of the Earth, Israel Radio said.
The commander was addressing his troops on the subject of treating the Palestinians with dignity while operating in the territories, and urged the soldiers not to humiliate them at roadblocks.

One of the soldiers said during the discussion that ensued that he would be willing to wipe an entire village of the face of the Earth in order to save one Jewish life.

The commander threw the yarmulke down on the ground and told the soldier furiously that his statement contradicts the principles of Judaism and the Torah.

The company commander reprimanded the officer for throwing the yarmulke on the ground, and told the soldiers that they must express themselves in an appropriate manner, especially in matters regarding military ethics.
