Saturday Peace Vigil in Davis
I urge everybody to attend this vigil to protest the U.S. assault on Falluja and the deaths of over 100,000 Iraqis. We must resist the Bush junta's war against the Iraqi people!
(from adc sacramento)
According to a study published last month in the respected British medical
journal, The Lancet, 100,000 excess civilian deaths have happened in Iraq
since the US invasion in March 2003: "Violence accounted for most of the
excess deaths and air strikes from coalition forces accounted for most
violent deaths." Nearly half of the dead were children under 15.

The U.S. assault on Falluja is a catastrophic action that will result in
more horrific and unnecessary bloodshed, fuel anger and resentment against
the U.S., and swell the ranks of terrorist groups. We need to raise our
voices in opposition to this attack and call for our troops to be brought
home now.
Community members are invited to participate in a peace vigil to protest the
attack on Falluja and to remember, honor and mourn the victims of the
occupation, this Saturday, November 13, 11am - noon, at the G Street Plaza,
Davis (G Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets), rain or shine. Everyone warmly
welcome!
Saturday G Street vigils were organized by the Davis Friends Meeting
(Quakers) three years ago in response to the US bombing of Afghanistan and
continue as a weekly witness for peace. For more than 300 years, Quakers
have opposed all war as inconsistent with God's will, and have worked for
reconciliation and active nonviolent resolution to conflict. During the
Vietnam War, Friends and other opponents of the war held a weekly vigil at G
Street Plaza for nearly 10 years. Information: 758-8575.
Peace,
Cindy
