Hello North Coast Forest Defenders!

We want to give you an update on Houston's SACRED Redwood activities so you know you are not alone in the fight against MAXXAM. Since we're located in the "belly of the beast", with MAXXAM headquarters right in the heart of Houston, we are constantly looking for fresh new ways to spread awareness and continue the campaign at MAXXAM's doorstep.

** Last May, SACRED founder Rhea Green accompanied North Coast Earth First!'s Shunka Wakan to MAXXAM's annual shareholder meeting in Houston. To listen to the news report and interviews with Shunka and Rhea, go to the main page at http://www.SacredRedwood.org. The event is 12 down from the top- just click on the link for the report.

**In September, SACRED hosted the annual "Gypsy's Legacy Rocks On" benefit show. With over 100 people in attendance, awareness was raised through an alter for Gypsy, props, a presentation by Rhea Green, and a giant outdoor-screen showing of the documentary "Tree-Sit". A highlight of the event was when we had 12 people stand in a giant circle with their arms outstretched to demonstrate the massive size of an ancient Redwood (see picture links below).

**"Freedom Fridays" resumed in September as we stand in solidarity with endangered ancient forests and those working tirelessly to defend them. One Friday a month, SACRED gathers at MAXXAM headquarters for protest, prayer and meditation. We meditate to send positive energy back to those who fight for peace and justice for the Earth.

**Tonight, Friday Nov. 5, at 7 PM, SACRED has plans to LEVITATE MAXXAM at their headquarters, in protest of MAXXAM/Pacific Lumber's proposed logging plan on Humboldt Highway 101.

**Future events include a teach-in (with guest speaker Patrick Beach, author of A Good Forest for Dying) and a camping trip to Houston's National Forest.

**We will keep you posted on all SACRED activities. Please contact us with any ideas you might have for Houston-based campaigns, events and support. Email info [at] SacredRedwood.org or call 713-858-0074.

** We encourage everyone to check out the SACRED messageboard for updates, and to post anything that's on your mind. The link is: http://www.sacredredwood.org/forum/

**Pictures of all events can be found at http://www.sacredredwood.org/gallery/events.
