Voting Irregularities in Pittsburgh
A number of voting irregularities in the region have prompted the allegheny county voting protection association to file a motion to keep the polls open until 9pm. One of the key problems is that there are insufficient number of legally required provisional ballots available at the polls. One young women outside the Jewish Community Center in Squirrel Hill reported to a member of pittsburgh indymedia that although she was registered to vote in that district, her name wasn't on the list at the polling place and so she was turned away. She said that happened to at least three others who were in line with her, all of whom, she noted, were registered Democrats. The Post-Gazette reports that similar problems are occurring in Oakland, Garfield and Wilkinsburg.
