by under Bush we are heading there
If you speak out against Christian fundamentalists in the US you at most get rocks thrown through your window (although they have assasinated and used bombs against abortion clinics). Under Bush we could easilly be heading to a place where writing a newspaper article against the Promise Keepers or Pat Robertson gets one killed...
by more pointed pointer
Tom Coburn of Oklahoma: A former congressman who once tried to lead a coup against the Republican House leadership because he regarded Newt Gingrich as too “soft,” Coburn has publicly supported the death penalty for abortion providers. He complained of “rampant lesbianism” in Oklahoma middle schools, called a group of state legislators (Republicans from Oklahoma City) “crapheads,” and called for cuts in federal assistance to native Americans—in a state with one of the largest American Indian populations. A physician, Coburn was sued during the campaign by a former patient who said he had sterilized her without her permission.

Don't forget that Coburn also says that groups currently with a longer average
lifespan in the US such as european and asian americans experience
this because they are genetically superior to indians whose lifespan has decreased
from what it was in 1800. He doesn't take into account the history of the state
of Oklahoma including things like whites burning the black neighborhood
of Tulsa and going on a murder spree in 1928.
