Spirited Anti-War Vigil in Castro Valley
Anti-war, anti-Bush protesters, some in costume, came out in force to counter the Bush/Cheney supporters on Wednesday in Castro Valley and to loudly say "NO WAR!".
Members of South Alameda County Peace & Justice Coalition and Code Pink Hayward and other citizens showed up on the corner of Castro Valley Blvd. and Redwood Road to express their disgust at the Bush administration chanting, "No to the War, No to Bush!"
Though there were a number of Kerry supporters, one protester had a sign that had a skull pig on both sides of his sign with the names "Kerry" on one side and on the other "W" to show his distain for both presidential candidates. "The will of the people will not be expressed in these elections. Both candidates support the 'war on terror' which is a campaign of terror on all people," he said.
At the height of the vigil there were about 20 people with a few Bush supporters across the street. At times there were a number of heated exchanges between the opposing sides and lots of honks from people cars passing by.
