On Saturday October 16 several thousand people marched to the federal building in downtown Los Angeles calling for immigrant rights. Demands included an end to racist round ups and deportations and for the rights of immigrants to have drivers licenses. The march went down Broadway where people lined the busy working class commercial street in support.

The demonstration was made up primarily of Latino workers but there were Palestinian and Filipino contingents as well.
A bus of immigrant workers organized by ANSWER came from San Francisco.

The march and rally was organized by Latino Movement USA, Hermandad Mexicana Nacional and ANSWER LA.

Are these "news" photos or are they just advertising for the ANSWER bullies?

It's kind of sad when leaders decide that their "group" is more important than the cause they claim to represent.

Well if these are advertisements for the issues raised and the people who turned out, so much the better! The right takes full freedom to advocate with advertising, and so should we! … all partisan conflicts aside …

Yes Bill shows his leanings a little bit in his pictures, but this march was also organized partially by ANSWER. Personally, I don't agree with the way ANSWER does stuff all the time, and I am definitely not a follower of the Workers Vanguard/Workers World stuff. Despite this I am still thankful that ANSWER and Bill were out there with a whole bunch of other folks 10 years after a rather large anti-prop 187 march. If anarchists could get our act together a little bit more and work with other parts of the community than maybe we could talk a little more shit, but as long as you can't even take the time to spell anarchist right...Well you might as well shut up and understand who and what you are talking shit on before you start typing something that makes you look like such a fool.

Thanks Bill, your an amazing photographer and one of your black and whites graces the cover of this months Fault Lines too.
