AnyoneButIgnacio.org AN IDEA!

by Jonah Z.
I got an idea that I think could be really powerful...
Let's launch a website and a group called AnyoneButIgnacio.org to assure that one of the 3 Very Cool Progressive candidates running against Ignacio De La Fuente for Mayor wins. Let's learn from our friends in SF.
This is an absolutely serious and important idea. We need to unite Progressive School Board Members Dan Seigel, and Greg Hodge and Citycouncilwoman Nancy Nadel in their races for Mayor of Oakland that will be voted on in 2006. Let's take advantage of the fact that the race has already started and develop a website/listserv and working group that is gathering endorsements, potentially funding and definitely momentum to support these 3 really good folks, help people learn the truth about Ignacio De la Fuente, who represents the extreme right wing in Oakland - for example he opposed Measure R on the fact that he thought ALL the money should go to police and not be "wasted" on social programs. He has not been a friend of labor or anyone progressive even having a voice at City Council and to an extent even further than Jerry Brown conduct business behind closed doors that you can only open with your pocketbook. Meanwhile Nancy Nadel has been a long time voice of truth and community on the Oakland City Council, who genuinely uses her position to support community organizing and progressive ideas. Greg Hodge and Dan Seigel have both been recent Presidents of the Oakland School Board and are the only two brave enough to truly run a fight against State Occupier Randy Ward. They are both brilliant activists and rooted in the Oakland grassroots community. I think with the constituencies that each of these folks bring to the table that we can take back City Hall if we start early. I think we can use this campaign not just to elect someone but build a strong progressive platform in Oakland.

I don't have any webskills, but have good connections and want to make this happen.
