Organic Sacramento October Events
Hello Members & Friends!
Organic Sacramento is pretty busy working on a variety of projects. We
wanted to update you on what's going on, and, if you have a desire and
opportunity to help on any of them, we hope you will join in!
After hosting two excellent speakers over the last 4 weeks on the
Genetically Engineered issue, we're continuing to learn more about our
food supply (more details on each item are located further below)....

Nancy Poer, Harald Hoven, Cinnie Blair, and Chris Weingarth

-DONATION - proceeds will go toward support of the Raphael Community
Supported Agriculture(CSA) Program.
A four part series of award winning educational documentaries on the
sources of our food, world agriculture and environmental issues including
"My Father's Garden" and "The Future of Food". Each will be followed by
community dialog and discussion.
2. Organic Sacramento Meeting Monday, October 18 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Cathleen Branich has graciously offered her home for this meeting.
Location: 4852 Virginia Way, Sacramento
Directions: From Hwy 99 southbound, exit Sutterville Rd., turn right. Go
to Freeport Blvd, Turn left. Virginia is the 7th left turn, just a few
blocks south of William Land Park

* Support GE-Free Butte County campaign, Only a couple of weeks left

3. Keeping California GE Free
Sacramento Natural Food Coop Learning Center 1914 Alhambra Boulevard.
Tuesday, Oct. 19, 6:30-8 pm
Free
There are currently over 100 million acres of GE (genetically engineered)
crops being grown in the United States. Over the next several years the
biotech industry is planning to introduce a new generation of GE crops,
many of which are grown on a large scale in California. Many fear this
could have a devastating impact on California farmers. Learn more about
genetic engineering and actions you can take to support sustainable
agriculture and keep California GE free. Presenter: Simon Harris
Preregistration is required for all classes, even free introductory
classes. Fees are due at the time of registration.
