Poor Iraqis

by Scott C. Barta (scott [at] 1851Treaty.com)
The poor Iraqi people face thesame fate that was committed agaist them by u.s. troops 130 years ago as the government began to illegally steal Black Hills Lakota gold reserves from 1851 Treaty Territories.
DaNakota Speaks: Will Iraqis Follow the American Way?

(API) Interview with Scott Barta of the DaNakota (misnomer “Sioux”) Nation, founder 1851Treaty.com, October 13, 2004 along the banks of the Missouri River in what is today called “Sioux City, Iowa.”

As a Red DaNakota person, I can empathize with the innocent suffering Iraqi people. The u.s. and other greedy “G8 nations” (the big, corporate controlled countries such as those in the u.n. “security council” and other yes men for the big business) are led by their lust for mideast oil, just as the u.s. government lusted for Lakota gold in the sacred Black Hills only 130 years ago.

I see majority of the Iraqi families shattered with very few ‘embracing’ the western way. I can see the Iraqi days of the stay-at-home-mom coming to an end drifting away from their grip just like their oil.

I remember growing up and being so fortunate to have my own mother at home to cook, clean and care for us kids while my dad worked and supported us all at his now-defunct meat packing union job. She didn’t have to wear a mini skirt, high heels, have her breasts enlarged, wear make-up or have tattoos either! (Look out Iraq!)

Today in Iraq the u.s. is imposing the ‘loss of family structure’ to those who have maintained some semblance of the family unit and purpose while fast extracting and shipping Iraqi oil to u.s.a.

I recently visited a returning soldier and family friend who is on furlough from Iraq. I asked what other soldiers feel about Abu Ghraib atrocities and he said his fellow soldiers thought it was "really no big deal and shouldn’t have even been an issue." I told him jokingly. "Yeah, if we Nakotas ever catch up with a u.s. soldier on the reservation, we might just stick a refrigerator up his butt! He didn’t seem to mind. He is already hardened and numbed!

Later, on internet I saw streamed pictures downloaded from a military aircraft. It showed a group of about fifty Iraqi citizens walking in a bunch down a street --totally unknowing that a military plane had them in telescopic sights, ready to drop a 500-pound bomb on their heads. Next clip the video shows the group being blown to smithereens as the pilot says "Awesome, dude."

Is this the price for democracy?

Now, regarding the hairpin difference between Bush & Kerry: both have plans to occupy Iraq at least four more years!

Meanwhile in america today, the bill of rights may have to be relinquished or put ‘on hold’ while americans protect themselves from the boogeyman 'terrorist' (hey, they got Cat Stevens, did they not?)

Until all Iraqi oil reserves are liberated, Iraqi preschool toddlers will be sent to ever unsanitary day-care systems so both parents will be ‘free’ to ‘slave away’ each day at low-paying, low benefit jobs!

Why does Iraq have to be democratize like america?

So Halliburton, Carlyle, Bechtel, Monsanto, Bayer, Dow Chemical and Coca Cola can increase their profit margins and people can drive their SUV's! Americans can’t walk to work or school anymore in a safe, free, sober society (the envy of the world). Oh yeah, remember it is not the foreign policies of america that the world doesn’t like - it’s america being ‘so darn free’ that makes them bomb our buildings and ships! Yeah, sure!

The u.s. military has become the oil company’s private mercenary force liberating oil from the third world. Gas prices should be going down at least little bit, right? So why are gas prices continually going up?

Next I suppose ‘alcohol’ and ritalin for unruly school kids will be imposed into the new Iraqi democracy-- the freedom to drink, as it was done to the american Indians. It was not the Irish as spinned!

Bombing Iraqi neighborhoods into submission is time-tested u.s. military strategy. The same thing happened to the Nakotas here. Destruction of family-based life and the ongoing process to deny rights and nationhood to families who are too weak to resist the powerful weapons that hold them hostage.

Where are the religions and churches when you need them?

The Nakota Nation has billions of dollars in coal that has been illegally scraped from their Homelands practically each year since 1851, without one CENT of payment (see 1851Treaty.com)! Then there is $9 trillion in Black Hills gold sitting in Ft. Knox. Yet the Nakota ‘qualify’ as one of the most impoverished peoples in the world. Is this the future that awaits the Iraqi peoples? Is this called “the american way?”
