Neotropic at Bottom of the Hill 10.12

by podinski (ecr [at] indymedia.org)
::: TONIGHT at Bottom of the Hill ::: 10.12 :::
Mush r3cords + dirtyloop presents
Her Space Holiday, Deadalus, Neotropic, Octavius
fl2004flyerfront.jpg
One of electronic music's most inventive voyagers ripping up the scenes and making fresh tracks both earth-shattering and delicately sublime is Neotropic's Riz Mazlen, now into a decade of extra-terrestrial soundscapes. In an industry flush and flaunted with male ego and its more recent extended geekdom, seldom is there acoustic and tactile space for feminine tinctures to slash with such visceral and illuminated compositions. But she will quickly dissuade you from any gender collisions ; it’s the music that matters ! Listen closely and you might hear the androgenous spirits seductively hacking and dismantling the machines.

Neotropic plays with
Octavius, Deadalus, and Her Space Holiday
at Botton of the Hill Oct.12
not necessarily in that order , arrive early.
9 : 00 pm (doors at 8:30)
$12
18 and over

Riz Mazlen debuts her latest album White Rabbits on Mush Records and Dirty Loop, who have put together another brilliant line-up hitting over 25 cities across North America.

Is this event sliding scale? Is this at all related to anything, except a money making tour? get some standards ya crak babies...

heya tkat,

well this wasn't meant to post on the Front page...
but as an "arts in action" bit, it's highly worth spreading the news.

sorry to say, it ain't sliding scale... and it IS $teep.
nevertheless neotropic packs more resistance than every bland beatfreak dj (w/o clues to musical composition ) that i've seen playin the activist ghettos lately... i suggest haggling or bringing goods to trade or bribe at the door... never let a gatekeeper stop ya... sorry it's just a fact, knowledge can be gained in the capitalist sectors.

and to say that everyone trying to make a living at making art is on crack
is a bit like teaching anarchists to tie their shoe laces together and then run from the popo.

hope to see ya there,
: )

"and to say that everyone trying to make a living at making art is on crack is a bit like teaching anarchists to tie their shoe laces together and then run from the popo."
Making a living at art is one thing, using indymedia to promote people who have no inherent political relationship is another. Maybe there is something that i am missing, possible. You like them that is great, I like alot of artists too, but I don't put them up on indymedia even though alot of them are active in creating both community and resistance. Every live show that i have seen this year has had political content, even john digweed, but especially Plaid.

We all know that electronic artist/djs are on krak or crak but not crack, that crack is reserved for the people who need it, it is medicine damnit. From my understanding, anarchists mainly wear sandals, flip flops, boots that zip up, slip ons, have velco laces, or go bare foot. Laces are for loosers.

What the hell is all this feminine stuff? Why do certain traits have to be attributed to women? As a not-so-feminine female who has an effeminate male partner (we have lots of friends who are like us), I thought this was all really gross.

And I agree, that post didn't really seem like something that should have been on this site.

ok, admitted, that show was politically weak...
neotropic and octavius have apparently bailed on this tour...
and did not play at BotHill ...
could be an interesting story as to why.

sign said some musicians got their gear stolen, but after speaking to other musicans heard that neotropic was in nyc and had issues...

certainly if any respectable group was billed under
the belly-button gazing headliner Her Space Holiday...
cutting out for a better label w/ spine is an urgent matter.

but substitute BUs Driver is powerful stuff, and willing to give dirtyloop a little more chance ... cause they also are producing palestinian art in LA.

actually , it would be great to expand the arts in action to explore articles of artists who are creating inspiring communities ! please share yur PLAID stories...
( hmmm , not sure i wanna hear the digweed poop though )

...more on that , gotta run.
p.

ok , got me boots on . stylin.
