Remembering Edward Said: A Tribute to his Life and Impact

Dr. Edward Said, a long time friend and advisor to the Arab Film Festival, was a man of phenomenal intellect and inspiring courage. Dr. Said was the leading spokesman for the Palestinian cause in the United States. As a scholar he articulated the struggle for Palestinian self-determination as a struggle for human rights. His numerous articles, books and lectures renewed the hope of peace despite the gross misrepresentations perpetuated by mass media. The Arab Film Festival honors Dr. Said and his memory with this presentation.

"Remembering the solidarity shown to Palestine here and everywhere... and remember also that there is a cause which many people have committed themselves, difficulties and terrible obstacles not withstanding. Why? Because it is a just cause, a noble ideal, a moral quest for equality and human rights." Dr. Edward Said (1935-2003)
