CONTINUING JIM MC ENTEE’S LEGACY
COMMUNITY PLANNING MEETING

DATE: Wednesday, October 13, 2004
TIME: 5:00 P.M. – Light supper provided
PLACE: Northside Community Center
488 North 6th Street, San Jose

Many in the community who have known Jim McEntee for many years---and even those who have known him for only a short time---have expressed the hope that there would be a community planning meeting where we might not only express what Jim meant to us and to the whole community, but plan how we can continue his legacy.

With Jim’s vision of building a more socially just, humane and peaceful community, the services of the Office of Human Relations have grown to include mediation services to schools and to the community at-large, citizenship and immigrant programs, coordination of resources for the homeless (including winter shelters), the Network for a Hate Free Community, the Institute for Non-Violence, the Human Relations Commission, the Youth Taskforce and the Commission on the Status of Women. Jim also helped nurture organizations such as the Asian Law Alliance, the Food Bank, and the Emergency Housing Consortium, and make positive changes in United Way and the Santa Clara County Grand Jury.

If you or your organization would like to have input into continuing the legacy of Jim McEntee in Santa Clara County, please plan to come to the community planning meeting on Wednesday, October 13th at 5:00 p.m. at the Northside Community Center, 488 North 6th Street, San Jose. A light supper will be provided.
