Our Family Coalition is a nonprofit that serves the LGBT family community. With over 500 member families OFC is one of the largest organizations of it’s kind in the nation. If you have never come to an OFC workshop or event I would like to invite you to attend, our social events are a great way to meet other lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender parent headed families with children.

You’ll learn about the impact of California’s exciting new Domestic Partnership Law from illustrious attorneys Alma Soongi Beck (an expert in Estates, Trusts and Property), Deborah Wald (a pioneer in the areas of LGBT parentage, adoption, and surrogacy), and tax lawyer Carole Ruwart, (who works for State Board of Equalization Chairwoman, Carole Migden). Protect your rights as a parent! This workshop will present an overview of the legal mechanisms available in California for establishing legal parentage in LGBT parent families. We’ll explore the topics of domestic partner adoption, second parent adoption, and the effect of AB 205 upon LGBT parents. This is a must workshop for LGBT parents or prospective parents!

Boogie and bop with your little ones to the sounds of live drumming, world music, song, dance and story! This harmonious evening kicks off our six-week parenting skills series. Designed for parents of children six months to five years old, this program provides a safe, loving environment for your child to explore _expression and creativity. Instructor Amber Hines will encourage children to cultivate their own magic and experience movement from within. The live music will feature a culturally diverse blend of life-affirming songs of hope, peace, self-love and community. Please RSVP by October 8th to Aimee at 415-981-1960 as space is limited.

This ground-breaking conference, organized under the auspices of the LGBT Early Childhood Education Initiative, offers workshops, panel presentations, exhibits and information tables for educators, parents, families, instructors, and allies. Registration fees: early bird special $35, student fee $25 (proof of enrollment required), on-site registration $45 (Fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, LGBT ECE toolkit). Something as simple as a touch can be so powerful. For infants, massage can help relieve colic, enhance sleep, and ease life transitionsand simply provides a wonderful way to connect with your child from birth and beyond. Join massage therapist and mother Mindy Swanson for hands-on baby massage class. If you are "expecting" feel free to join us to prepare for your new family member. Bring your ghosts and goblins to a Halloween Bash in San Francisco. Bring a dish to share and costumes to dazzle the eye. The SF LGBT Community Center’s Ceremonial Room will be transformed into a creepy Halloween experience. Enjoy face painting, mask making, an eyeball relay, ring around the pumpkin, trick or treat bag decorating, and pin the grin on the jack o lantern! Lots of interactive games and arts and crafts for the whole family! Come in Costume! Co-sponsored by the LGBT Family Collaborative. Volunteers needed to staff activity stations! 10. October 28 Thursday 6-9pm CPR for Babies and Young Children
Are you prepared if your child has a life-threatening emergency? This course is designed to teach parents and caregivers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies for children and infants. Topics of discussion range from warning signs of heart attacks and strokes, difficulty breathing, and foreign body airway obstructions. The course will be taught by an expert instructor and will be enjoyable, hands-on, interactive and in the company of other LGBT parents. Includes CPR certification and training booklet.
Cost is $20 per adult and your registration fee must be received by October 21 to participate. Scholarships available to parents who cannot afford the fee. Because two Halloween parties are better than one! This is OFC’s annual Halloween party in Berkeley and it’s going to be fantastic. It’s a potluck so bring all of your favorite Halloween treats. OFC will provide drinks and paper products. We will have a giant dragon jump tent, crafts, pumpkin decorating and an outdoor play area! Come in costume!
