"SPEAK OUT AGAINST RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION, STAND UP FOR INCLUSION"

WHAT: Speak Out Against Racism And Discrimination, Stand Up For Inclusion Rally and March

WHERE: In front of the LGBT Community Center (Market at Octavia)

WHEN: 5:00 PM, Friday, October 1, 2004

September 24, San Francisco - A coalition of primarily LGBT
organizations have come together to plan an October 1 demonstration to
raise awareness about racism and other forms of discrimination within
the San Francisco LGBT community. The theme is "Speak Out Against
Racism
And Discrimination, Stand Up For Inclusion." While many have worked for
years to create greater inclusion, recently there has been a
groundswell
of people speaking out. The coalition embraces this moment to help
bring about real change and make a claim for greater racial, gender,
age, class, and other forms of belonging among San Francisco's LGBT
people. The march strives to inspire ongoing action from all in our
community-as individuals, workers, business owners, community
organizers, and leaders-to make San Francisco a truly welcoming
homeland
for all LGBT people.

Organizers include Black Rap, And Castro For All, ANSWER, Asian Pacific
Islander Queer Women and Transgender Coalition, the Harvey Milk
Democratic Club, the SF LGBT Pride Celebration Committee, and the Gay
Asian Pacific Alliance. To date, over 20 other organizations have
joined
as co-sponsors, pledging to bring support and energy to this powerful
event. Co-sponsors include: AIDS Emergency Fund, AIDS Housing Alliance,
Alice B. Toklas Democratic Club, API Wellness, Bay Area American Indian

Yep, sounds like an ANSWER slogan to me. They always sound the same. Just wait, all the little signs they carry will be ANSWER as well. Please, people, wake up to the infestation of the gay community by these jerks.

What: Join Gay Shame for a late entry into the Cutest of the Castro beauty pageant

When: Sunday Oct. 3rd 2:30 pm

Where: Meet at the special strategically located Gay Shame convergence center:18th St. between Castro and Hartford

Dress to absolute, terrifying, ragged, devastating excess and bring...
Blackened teeth, low-carb Iraqi crude (looks good, feels better), video head cleaner, botox damage, extreme collagen makeovers, creatine muscle madness, tina, Kimberly's coke, diamonds anything camouflage, the now-legal AK 47, blood (just in case the police or pride monitors aren't present), decaf Greay Goose appletinis, more diamonds Tiffany's wedding bands, liposuction leftovers, photo-facial blush, sweatshop swimsuit coture (for the talent segment), depth, inner beauty and charm.

GAY SHAME is a virus in the system. We are committed to a queer extravaganza that brings direct action to astounding levels of theatricality. We will not be satisfied with a commercialized gay identity that denies the intrinsic links between queer struggle and challenging power. We seek nothing less than a new queer activism that foregrounds race, class, gender and sexuality, to counter the self-serving values of gay consumerism and the increasingly hypocritical left. We are dedicated to fighting the rabid assimilationist monster with a devastating mobilization of queer brilliance. Gay Shame is a celebration of resistance: all are welcome.

open meetings EVERY saturday at 5:30 pm
in the back room of Modern TImes books
Valencia and 20th San Francisco

Is this event hosted by/perpetuated by ANSWER? I'd like to know before attending. We really need an LGBTQ response to racism within our communities, but not a cooptation of this serious issue.
by response
No. ANSWER is just one of the sponsors. Read the original message. This is a true grassroots response to racism/sexism in the Castro....so come out!!! And bring your own damn sign! :)
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
