# 10/1 Medical Cannabis Legal Clinic
In the absence of a comprehensive policy regarding medical cannabis in
the city and county of San Francisco, which has led to a great deal of
confusion and resulted in over 100 arrests of patients and caregivers
by the SFPD this year alone, we are organizing a Medical Cannabis Legal
Clinic on the steps of the Hall of Justice; 850 Bryant St; to be held
from 10 AM to 4 PM on October 1, 2004.
Confirmed speakers include: J. Tony Serra [America's most repspected
criminal defense attorney, Chris Conrad [internationally respected
authority on cannabis, industrial hemp, medical marijuana, cultivation,
yields and cannabis culture], Dennis Peron [author, Prop 215], Dale
Gieringer [California NORML]
The Medical Cannabis Legal Clinic is the inaugural project of the
proposed Cannabis Defense Clinic, a project planned to provided legal
advice and representation to marijuana defendants in the event that may
seek a jury trial.

# 10/1: Screening of The END of SUBURBIA and discussion with Sonia Shaw
Gloabl Exchange, New College, and Post Carbon Oakland are cosponsoring
a screening and discussion with Sonia Shah about her new book "Crude".

the American Way of Life and its prospects as the planet approaches a
critical era. With oil prices at 25 year highs, and the prices of
gasoline and food on the rise, this film is particularly timely. Free

Haiitian activist Pierre Labossiere was in Haiti early this year for
the bicentennial celebrations marking the country’s independence from
France. LeiLani Dowell traveled to Haiti this month as part of a
fact-finding delegation led by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey
Clark. She met with dozens of political prisoners, including Haitian
singer So-Anne and members of Jean Bertrand Aristide’s government who
were arrested after the coup against Aristide.
Local 10 of the International Longshore Warehouse Union is famous for
its long history of militancy, boldness and courage in defense of
working people. The ILWU is now organizing millions of people to go to
Washington, D.C. Oct. 17 to demand decent jobs with a living wage and
universal health care and money for housing, schools and education not
war. The Million Worker March is also demanding an end to the
occupation of Iraq and to bring the troops home now. In the words of
actor Danny Glover, “We must keep marching. . .before the elections and
after the elections. . .until we win justice for the homeless, the
