Yom Kippur Observed in Palestine

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

On high alert

For Yom Kippur

Guards deployed

At synagogues

Stood at attention

As Israel Defense

Shelled a Palestinian

Hospital six children

Wounded in the Gaza

Strip medical equipment

Punctured with bullets

As a rabbi guided

His congregation

To right the wrongs

Against God and man

Israeli forces opened

Fire wounding

Dozens of civilians

During a peaceful

Congregation

In Hebron

Protesting Israeli

Troops razing

Palestinian

Farmlands

Steel clubs

Met flesh

Tear gas eyes

Bullets sprayed

Dazed Hope

Of divine

Intervention

During troubled

Times for the Jewish

Faithful the day

Of repentance

Of holy convocation

When you afflict

Yourself atone

For transgressions

Israeli armored

Vehicles swept

Into refuges camps

Shooting at houses

Rampaging bulldozers

Pushed toward

Fleeing children mothers

Collapsing homes

Bleeding fathers

On Friday

Before sundown

Three Israeli tanks

Stormed Al-Salam

Neighborhood

Judaism has standards

Of behavior

Commandments

One must observe

Israeli soldiers

Manned checkpoints

Hundreds waited

Machine guns opened

Fire indiscriminately

Soldiers punched, kicked

Struck with rifle butts

A young man returning

Stuck at the checkpoint

Closed by Israeli troops

In defense of Yom Kippur

Quite possible.

If you have been following the news from there, you will see that a Palestinian mortar opened fire (killing an Israeli woman) and this time, instead of the usual "invasion" by ground forces to attempt to arrest? the mortar team, the Israelis responded with their own artillery firing back at the mortar position. <presumably the first use in action of the radar "mortar location" system they just deployed>

Now just where was that mortar tube set up? In some open field? (and the Israeli return fire hit a hospital somewhwere else because they are such terrible shots). Or on the hospital grounds or even on the hospital roof?
by Sefarad
The Palestinians were shooting from those houses. And I have read that the killed woman was from the US.
by gehrig
Yes, and she was 24 years old.

Nice to see you.
There is a guy barking in this site. So it is nice to see friendly people.

The rules here are pretty simple. If you dare suggest that Hamas is intent on destroying Israel, that billionaire Arafat has made himself rich by criminally exploiting the people he "leads" and by redirecting the international aid intended for them, that the PA is a fascist gang of criminals, that suicide bombing is a bad thing, or that there are any other Israelis in all of history besides Baruch Goldstein, there are people here who will jump up and down and call you a "racist."

And if you dare point out that the Palestinian leaders could have walked away with pretty much everything they wanted in 2000 and 2001 -- including the Palestinian state -- but chose terror instead, then there are people who will fall over themselves in a race to use the word "bantustan," as if chanting that word will make the facts go away.

Many thanks for the information about the rules of the house.
by anti-Zionist
you're a racist. That Arafat is a scumbag doesn't change that.
by gehrig
It's a reflex. Nessie can't help it. It's Pavlovian.

Incidentally, when nessie -- who likes to pretend he's more than one person, which is why he posts under so many different names -- says "anyone who supports Israel," he means "anyone who thinks Israel has the right to even exist." When I pointed out to him that, according to a recent poll, 95% of Americans of Arab descent agreed that Israel has the right to exist, I asked nessie whether this made 95% of Arab Americans "racist." He was too embarrassed to answer, and still struggles not to.

Try it some time. Ask him. It's a simple yes-or-no question, yet he can't answer it. He's too embarrassed.

And, by the way, for an explanation of that blatantly racist post above (the one talking about "bloody Arab monsters" see:

>>>95% of Americans of Arab descent agreed that Israel has the right to exist,<<<<gehrig>

That may be true, Even Saudi Arabia and other Arab Nations agree that Israel has a right to exist, I also agree that Israel has a right to exist inside its 1967 (Green Line) Borders.
I even agree that Israel should be allowed to build their fence/wall/barrier, as long as it is on its Green Line border.

But 22% of what is TODAY Israel, West Bank and Gaza is not to much to ask for the Palestinian State for some 4,000,000 people.
That would leave 78% for the 6,000,000 or so people living inside the pre 1967 Borders.

Do the Math who gets the most land per-person?

Not to much for Peace in the Middle East.

Not to much to ask for the regaining of Arab repect for the U.S., Since the problem is double standard and hypocrisy, when the U.S. comes out with freedom for all and then supports Israel who Occupies and Oppresses and does not allow that "Freedom for all" to the Palestinian People.......
by gehrig
Which leads to two more rules worth mentioning.

(1) Statements of blatant anti-Arab sentiment are always blamed on The Zionists; statements of blatant antisemitic sentiment are always blamed on The Zionists _posing_ as antisemites.

(2) Nessie believes he walks on water. Reality differs; it's the SF-IMC, which he runs as his own personal sandbox, that's going down without a trace.

And, yes, nessie really, honestly sees nothing peculiar enough about his conclusion -- that 95% of Arab Americans are "Jewish supremicists" -- to make him want to question the Alice-in-Wonderland extremism of his "logic." He's that kind of guy.

when the arabs and their supporters target and kill Jews there will be a punishment. The reason the eurpeans committed the near total genocide of the Jews was because they thought they could get away with it.

its time for the arabs to learn that the Jews that survived and their decendents have learned and will not let the arabs think that killing Jews is an acceptable or glorious practice.
by Sefarad

For the "Palestinians" Palestine includes ISRAEL, Cisjordan and Gaza.
by gehrig
True; the 22% figure is only accurate if you leave out the fact that most of the Transjordan area set aside by the British Mandate was actually turned into the Palestinian-majority state called Jordan.

>the eurpeans committed the near total genocide of the Jews

"The" Europeans did not commit the near total genocide of the Jews. Some Europeans, a distinct minority *attempted* genocide of the Jews. They failed for two reasons.

First and foremost, they failed because Jews are too widely dispersed. The Diaspora is the single smartest survival tactic that Jews have ever employed. They are too widely dispersed to ever be exterminated. Now the Zionists, like their mentors the Nazis before them, want all the Jews to crowd into a tiny space with a wall around it, where they will be sitting ducks. Israel is a death trap for Jews. It’s the only place on the planet where Jews are routinely murdered, just for being who and where they are. This is what the Zionists have created. The Nazis taught them well.

Secondly, as this racist scum conveniently forgets to mention. The vast majority of Europeans stopped the Holocaust with lead, steel and their own blood. A simple “thank you” would have been nice. Instead, with typical Zionist duplicity, he actually *blames* Europeans for the Holocaust. That’s a Zionist for you, one lie after another.

It is true that if we went back to pre 1967 times the percentages would be different. But West Bank was part of Jordan, not part of Israel........everyone interested in this region knows that.....

But the way the land is TODAY......

We have Israel, West Bank and Gaza.......Jordan is a seperate Country now....which is fine.
Since in 1947 there was no Israel and then in 1948 there was, which is also fine.

West Bank and Gaza is 22% of the Area known TODAY as Israel, West Bank and Gaza......

22% is not to much to ask for the Peace and Freedom of 4,000,000 or so Palestinian People....

That would leave 78% for Israel Proper (The State of Israel) of about 6,000,000 people.

If you do the math you will see that the Israelis will have far more land per-person then the Palestinians.

Not to much to ask for a fair and just Peace, Better then this never ending cycle of violence......

Anyone who knows anything about Nazi Germany, knows that Hitler was a monster who was responsible for the death of way to many Jewish people, the Majority of then good decent people who should not have died.

But unlike World War II Hitler was found out and the problem was solved. His atrocities lasted about ten years.

The land confiscation, home demolitions, destruction of olive and fruit trees and other atrocities that are occurring in the West Bank and Gaza, which then go on to provoke the residence of the West Bank and Gaza to try to fight for their land and freedom has been going on for over thirty, although we are at the point where very many people and Government know of the Israeli intentions and atrocities we have not yet gone in and saved these Palestinian People.

Saving these People from the Brutal Occupation and Oppression would do more to put a giant dent in Terrorism. The U.S. says freedom for all. A few days ago G.W. Bush made a statement “Muslims yearn to be free”, but until we end the double standard and hypocrisy, it will be difficult to regain the respect of the Muslim population, ending this double standard and hypocrisy would greatly reduce new recruits into so called terrorism.

There are some people who say there was never a Palestine, but recently I read:

In 1939 (before there was the State of Israel) A Jewish Organization in Berlin was trying to get entry VISA’s for some Jewish People wanting to get out of Nazi Germany into “PALESTINE”

How can you get an entry visa into Palestine if some say there was never a Palestine?
by Kerry, we will hunt down and kill terrorists
as Kerry stated in the debate he will support Israel, and hunt down and kill the terrorists
by Critical Thinker
Many Zionists not only came to terms years ago with the fact that many Jews wish to remain in their respective diasporas, but also came to consider it essential that Jews remain in countries like the US to ensure that the pro-Israeli lobby remains potent. Expect nessie to seize my comment as a pretext to unleash some stump speech on the pernicious effects "the Zionists" have on American society, their "stranglehold" on the Administration and how this state of affairs "reeks" and "thwarts progress".
by Sefarad

The home demolition was not invented by Israel. Great Britain demolished the IRA terrorists' homes and nobody complaiined.

As Sharon announced Israel was going to withdraw from Gaza, the Palestinian terrorists went on to be tougher at killing people. The reason is that Hamas wants the withdrawal to look like a consequence of their actions, not as a consequence of the good will of Israel.

If the Palestinians want to be free from brutality, they should better get rid of their thugs they have for authorities, who are just pushing them to terrorism and to misery.

by Sefarad

In 1798, Kant referred to the Jews as "Palestinians"

Spanish Civil War (1936-1939)
Among the International Brigades, there was the "Palestinian Brigades", whose members were all Jews.

WW II

Within the British Army there was the "Palestinian Brigade of Jewish Volunteers", all of whom were Jews.

The first leader of the PLO stated in the UN, on March 31 1956: "It is known that Palestine is just south Syra."

Not even in the declarations of the UN the "Palestinians" are mentioned. Not even in the famous resolution 242 (November 1967), which was voted as a consequence of the occupation, the Palestinians are mentioned. It only mentions "refugees".

The Jews from Zion, the only ones named "Palestinians", stopped calling themselves so the moment of the declaration of independence in 1948. They abandoned the name "Palestinians", and the Arabs apprioprieted it.

November 8, 1720

The Arabs attacked the ashkenazi sinagogue in Jerusalem, burned the Torah, took the land and kept it occupied for one century.

Was it as a consequence of the "occupation"?

The Arab Palestinian people is mentioned in no document of any century till well in the 20 century.

In 1977 Zoher Mossein (Chief of Military opperations of Arafat) declared:

"There is no difference between Jordanians and Palestinians... we are members of one only nation. Just because of political reasons we are careful to emphasise our identity as Palestinians, since a separate State of Palestine will be an additional weapon to fight against Zionism."

Or when the "occupied territories" were in Arab hands (till 1967) and so the Palestinians could have proclaimed their independence there, they didn't even thought of it. Neither did they proclaim Jerusalem, which they controled, their capital.

Joseph Farad, an Arab American journalist said: "Isn't it interesting that before the 6 Day War there was not among the Arabs a serious movement to found a Palestinian homeland? How is it possible that Palestinians suddenly discovered their national identity after Israel won the war?... There is no Palestinian language, there is no Palestinian culture. There was never a land called Palestine ruled by Palestinians."
