Nine of the ten candidates for Berkeley City Council have confirmed participation in this two-hour, televised forum on
environmental approaches to transportation and land use in Berkeley and the region.

Questions are being presented by a variety of co-sponsoring groups including the Transportation and Land Use Coalition (TALC),
Urban Ecology, Ecocity Builders, the Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition (BFBC), the Berkeley Ecological and Safe Transportation
Coalition (BEST), Walk and Roll Berkeley, and the Post Carbon Institute.

Issues to be covered include: Smart Growth and Density; Bus Rapid Transit on Telegraph Avenue; Vista College transportation
mitigation funds; daylighting of creeks and transfer of development rights; bicycle and pedestrian safety and facilities; Peak
Oil and an energy constrained future; creation of carfree spaces and housing; and more.

The forum is expected to be broadcast live and will be rebroadcast repeatedly throughout the month as the election draws near.
Informative short films illustrating the issues are being planned.
