Bogus corporate polls

by ratón
I hate the democratic party but still, what is up with the corporate polls?
In the recent Gallup poll reported in USA Today and on CNN, the following sample was used:
Registered Republican: 305 (40%)
Registered Democrat: 253 (33%)
Registered independent: 208 (28%)

Not surprisingly, the results were 55% for Bush and 42% for Kerry. In other words, the republicans went with Bush, the democrats with Kerry and independents were split.

What kind of ridiculous sample is this? Seems the results would have to be corrected to account for the severe under-representation of Democrats.

It seems to be difficult to find reliable statistics about what percentage of Amercians are registered as Republicans, Democrats, or other. According to a Gallup poll from earlier this year, it's about evenly split in thirds.
